BLACK SUPERHEROES OF THE SILVER AGE webinar via NY Adventure Club!

The decade of the 1960s was one of the most turbulent in American history, sparking revolutions of all kinds in the political, socio-economic, cultural, and artistic spheres.

The field of comic books also went through an era of change and rebirth — while superheroes up until that point were all white men (and some women), this is the story of the rise of black superheroes during The Silver Age of Comics (circa 1956-72): The Black Panther (1966), The Falcon (1969), and John Stewart of the Green Lantern Corps (1971)!

So join New York Adventure Club and comic book-style illustrator and pop culture historian Arlen Schumer (The Silver Age of Comic Book Art), as he discusses and displays comic book covers, pages and panels in ways that will make you see these three black superheroes of The Silver Age like you never have before!
